We are very excited about 2009 CCU Summer League. We've grown from 137 players in 2006, to nearly 200 in 2007, 2008 & 2009.  We've grown from 8, to 10, to finally 12 teams this year.  Our next goal is 250 players. But we need your help. Invite your friends, reach out to your neighbors and cube buddies... get an office team together. Volunteer to Captain. Help us grow the league. We've love to grow to 16 teams of 11 men & 5 women, with a north and south division and crossover games. It will be incredible!! RECRUIT, RECRUIT, RECRUIT!!! Print this postcard to hang up and distribute... (right-click & save-target-as)

(*) New & Returning Core Teams welcome!! Bring a new core team in this year :-) It is not at all necessary to be part of a team to join the league, but don't forget that full teams and core teams are welcome in PADA's Chester County Ultimate League. Here is your chance to get together with some friends, classmates, or co-workers and form a team. The only caveat is that this is a co-ed league, so you will need to have men & women in your core or full team. Core Team captains should notify us as soon as possible of your intention to bring a team so we can assign you a team letter designation.  You can give this team designation to your core team players.  They will select this team letter from a drop down on the registration page to help ensure that they end up on your team.  The second step to ensuring you get the players you recruit, is to send the coordinators a list of names via e-mail prior to the May 4th core team roster deadline.  All of your core team players need to register by this date.  Please keep in mind that you must meet the following women's requirement or your core team may be dis-allowed if baggage requirements prevent us from adding enough free agent women to your team. (Please note that bringing a core team does not exclude the possibility that we'll add some free agents to your team.)

Min. Women's requirements for CCU core teams
1-3 men 1 woman
4-7 men 2 women
8-10 men 3 women
11-12 men 4 women
13 men 5 women up to max of 7

(*) No Pay, No Play - If you don't register and pay, you aren't registered for the league and will not be placed on a team. No exceptions. **If you sign-up and then decide you cannot play for whatever reason, a full refund will be given if you let us know by 6/15 and a $20 refund will be given up to 6/29.

(*) Duffy is seeking Coordinator Help - Drew and Tracey Cope have announced that the Summer of 2009 will be their third and last year helping me run the behind the scenes details for Chester County Ultimate. If you'd like to get more involved with running the details of the league, updating the website, creating the rosters and game schedules, getting details out to the captains, and coordinating t-shirts, discs, and fields, this is a perfect opportunity for you to step up to the plate. Please send an email CCUcoordinator AT pada DOT org and let us know. We'd like to train 5 to 7 people to each handle a different piece of the responsibility so that we can transition from the 2009 season into 2010 smoothly and easily, without placing too much weight on any one person to make it all happen.

What to expect this summer

- Games will be on Monday & Wednesday Nights. The number of teams and field availability will have a significant impact on game nights. We'll also be doing some fun hangout nights on occasional Friday's.

- Pickup will be held somewhere (once we finish the field permit process). We've also been informed of pickup occurring at the polo fields across from the Stroudwater Research Center (970 Spencer Rd, in Avondale PA) Wednesday's starting between 6 & 7. Check out www.Pada.org/CCU/Schedule for more details.)

- We are working on secured fields at Stetson Middle School on the southbound side of 202/322 between 926 and the south end of downtown West Chester. West Goshen is not available. We will be using the Kennett Fields at Anson B. Nixon Park We are also looking into some other options as well. Please email CCUcoordinator AT pada DOT org if you have suggestions.

- Games WILL start at 6:30 PM. We are asking you to plan on arriving at the fields no later than 6:15 PM to warm up, stretch, cleat-up, flip for shirts & possession, etc. Games WILL start at 6:30 PM. It is the captains responsibility to make sure they can field a team prior to arriving at the fields each week and communicating any problems to their opponent 24 hours in advance to allow for rescheduling. The Intramural Attendance Keeper is provided to CCU captains & players to assist with this. If a team is short players or women at 6:30 PM on game day, that captain has the choice to either (A) accept a 1-point penalty for every 5 minutes that (s)he can't field a team, or (B) play 7 vs whatever players (s)he has present, keeping in mind the male / female ratio. If the short team opts for point assessments, the first point is assessed at 6:35 PM and every 5 minutes there-after until either (1) they are able to field a team, (2) they decide to play short, (3) they forfeit the game, (4) or they still don't have a team at 7:30 PM at which point the game is forfit and pickup begins. Games will start on time again this summer.

How will Playoffs & Finals work in 2009?

We want finals weekend to be both fun and competitive and we want everyone to have the opportunity to heckle the A-Pool final game before heading to the party. We are running a format that gives everyone a shot at the title regardless of your regular season record, however, those teams who performed better throughout the summer will have an easier road. So with that in mind...

? We have 12 teams
? You will play 8 other teams on Mondays and 3 of the teams on Wednesdays for your official record.
? You will play 11 other “preseason,” “bonus,” or “Friday” games for a total of 22 games

? Teams will be ranked based on their “Official Record.”  Bonus games do not count in the standings.
? Rankings will be based on Record first, head to head second, and overall point differential third.
? Please report scores promptly so that the coordinators can update the rankings.

? Bracket-play game 1 will be held Monday, August 3rd
? Bracket-play game 2 will be held Wednesday, August 8th
? Bracket-play game 3 will be held the morning of finals, Saturday August 8 at 8:50 AM.
? Bracket-play game 4 will be held the morning of finals, Saturday August 8 at 11:00 AM.

? The game for 1st and 2nd will be played at 12:15 PM on Saturday August 8 followed by an all day party.

Please consult the game schedule and the finals bracket for details about the specific games and who you’ll play next based on the results of any given finals tournament game.
