CCU Goals:
To be an organization which helps people play spirited, competitive, CO-ED ultimate in the West Chester Area.
To provide a low stress encouraging environment in which new players can try ultimate for the first time.
To help players learn new skills and improve their existing skills.
To give PADA members the opportunity to play in a team-based league that is supportive both of new players and competitive play. See below for more details.
Team-based league:
In CCUSL You can submit a full team, and teams will be allowed to return from year to year. This gives PADA members the opportunity to have some of the "club" experience - getting to know what it is like to play with players whose games you know well - without the time commitment associated with being on a club team. This approach is modeled on Vancouver's summer league.
The only restriction on team composition beyond the usual CO-ED requirements is that teams will have to be willing to be a little flexible in the initial phases of league growth. In the Vancouver league there are over 300 teams sorted out into multiple divisions. CCUSL is still small enough that we have only one division. If a team of 15 national caliber players waltzes into CCUSL, the organizers will probably ask them to consider forming more than one team.
CCUSL already has some teams that are on par with the Fairmount Park SL. It is our hope that over time there will be opportunities for competitive play for teams of any level.
Noteworthy:
Remember you are never too old or too young to play ultimate, but you can be too young to play in our league. We are only insured to welcome players 16 years of age and up. You must be 16 years old by 2009-05-25. If you're not old enough to join us this summer, please come back when you hit the magic age :-)
