Easter Scramble Hat Tournament on Saturday, March 22nd, 2008
Saturday March 22nd, 2008
Are you going through ultimate withdrawal? Are you in dire need to hunt for eggs? If you answered yes to either or both, we have a solution. Come out and treat yourself to a full day of ultimate on a beautiful Spring day, hunt for some eggs and at the same time support your local UPenn women’s college team (Venus).
There will be scrambled eggs (first come first serve!), soft pretzels, eggs filled with snacks, and tons of fun for everyone.
So, brave the cool spring weather for the day and come out, layout, and have an eggout! The tournament will take place at Edgely fields in Fairmount Park. (4001 Edgely Dr. Philadelphia, PA 19131).
Registration starts at 9:15 am. Games will begin at 10:00 am. Everyone is welcome. Typically, we play 5/2 coed (4/3 if numbers allow), and 3 games per team.
Cost is $20 for adults and $10 for college students and each participant will receive water, food, a chance to win some cool-looking eggs with prizes hidden inside, and above all else a full day of Ultimate awesomeness!
All proceeds will go to support the UPenn women’s Ultimate team in funding our season. Venus has grown increasingly competitive in recent years; last year, the team upset the 8th ranked squad in the nation to win the Metro East Section, ultimately placing third in the region and barely missing a shot at the National Championships. Armed with a strong group of returning players and a slew of talented rookies, our objective this season is to not only improve upon last year’s performance, but to provide our players with every opportunity to attend tournaments, develop their skills, and engage in spirited competition. To attain these goals and prepare for Regionals—our Nationals-qualifying tournament—we’d like to attend five or six weekend tournaments during the upcoming Spring season. Unfortunately, attending these competitions is costly and unlike Varsity teams, club sports teams at Penn frequently do not receive sufficient financial support from the University.
Thank you in advance for your support and hope to see you on the fields!
