Field Listings

PADA Fields Policy

It is very important to preserve the fields on which we play. We have in the past lost privileges to play on fields we've torn up. If the fields are wet or muddy, please do not play on them. One test to see if the fields are okay is to (with cleats on) press down with your foot into the ground and try to push away. If your foot slides or tears up the field, then it's better not to play. Also, if there is a substantial amount of standing water on the field, do not play. Any time you expect to noticably damage fields by playing on them, avoid playing. Thanks for your help in this matter.

Guidelines for determining whether to play

  1. Games are ON unless you hear otherwise; small or moderate rainfall won't rainout summer league games.
  2. If playing at a rec center, call them and make sure it is OK to play; respect their word, but follow (3) and (4) below.
  3. Don't play on muddy or very soft fields; do the 'cleat' test: if you push against the ground and your foot slides or tears up the grass, don't play.
  4. Don't play on fields with substantial standing water.

Policy for Game Cancellations

Cancelations of summer league games will be rare and will sometimes occur as game-time decisions, because summer rain often comes from afternoon thundershowers that are not easy to predict. The summer league commissioners or the PADA board will make an announcement about any cancellations made well in advance of game time, and we'll attempt to publish these announcements through through the following (in this order):
  • An email to the league mail list (this is the "official" channel)
  • A voicemail greeting on the Edgely clubhouse phone number - 215-877-9840
Note: Game cancelations for safety reasons *always* preempt field considerations. Any time lightning is likely to strike - at a minimum, any time lightning has been spotted nearby - games must stop and players should go to a safe area. Safe areas include cars and indoor areas, and do not include standing under trees at the edge of the field to try to stay dry.

Field Scheduling

Our working member coordinator, Lindi Sabloff, coordinates the field use at Edgely for 2005. If you desire to use Edgely for anything other than a regularly scheduled PADA league game, you must contact her, lindi AT pada DOT org, to see if there are conflicts or open fields.

Help PADA Get Fields

PADA seems to keep growing season by season, and that means we need more fields if everyone is going to get a chance to play. As an incentive for folks to help us find new fields to play on, we will offer a free league registration to anyone who finds a field that is used in a league. Even ideas for possible fields to use would be greatly appreciated.
